/// While reliable active locating of non-metallic tubes and pipes with the help of galvanic or inductive methods does not cause problems anymore with perfected products (such as KEKOPLAST® detectable tapes No. 06 and No. 04), the myriametric wave method still has its limitations. Especially the locating lengths of location equipment leave a lot to desired with most civil engineering companies. Usual detectable tapes hitherto are not suitable for myriametric wave methods because they are poorly equipped with bad conducted location wires. They can only be located with difficulties or depending on their position and the composition of the ground, not at all when conventional detecting equipment is used. The result is that the course of non-metallic lines can sometimes only be guessed or will remain completely undetected. Possible consequences according to civil works or important repair works are self-evident.
What makes our KEKOPLAST® detectable tape special
/// These problems are now a thing of the past because of the cooperation with the FH Hannover and KEKOPLAST company who has been developed the KEKOPLAST® detectable tape No. 06 with copper wires. These tapes can be applied for all established detection measuring methods because of one or two isolated copper wires for active locating and to proof if the connection is inactive for the whole installed pipe as well as one blank copper wire for myriametric wave methods. The perforation above the blank copper wire assures optimal earth contact whereas the tape has otherwise a full transparent lamination.
/// The clear superior conductivity of copper (approximately 10 times) causes sensational locating results according to myriametric waves even over extreme short and long measuring distances. KEKOPLAST® detectable tapes No. 06 Cu achieve ex-cellent results even under difficult conditions such as poor wave accessibility because of geographical reasons, unfavourable line direction for location purposes, location tapes much deeper than 60 cm below the surface, unfavourable ground conditions, short lines of less than 20 m as well as nearby metal lines or pipes.

KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape No. 6 Cu with copper wires
Perfected products (such as KEKOPLAST No. 6 with steel wires) have made the reliable active location of non-metallic cables and pipes possible – and virtually problem-free – using galvanic and inductive methods. Passive locating, on the other hand, i. e. the myriametric wave method, still has its limitations. With the simple methods used by most contractors, the locating length, in particular, is often poor.
The locating tapes hitherto commercially available are in most cases unsuitable for myriametric wave location since, for corrosion protection purposes, nearly all have stainless steel wires which are poor conductors. When conventional detecting equipment is used, these can at best only be located with difficulty or, depending on their position and the composition of the ground, not at all. The result is that the course of non-metallic cables and pipes can sometimes only be guessed at or will remain wholly undetected. The possible consequences for excavation work or essential underground repairs are self-evident.
These problems are now a matter of the past thanks to KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape No. 6 Cu that has been developed in conjunction with the Fachhochschule Hannover.
Two isolated copper wires for active locating and testing that the link is intact along the full length of the line as well as a naked copper wire for locating by means of myriametric waves make this innovative tape a multifunctional product for all conventional detecting methods. Perforation above the naked copper wire ensures optimum ground contact while the tape otherwise has full transparent lamination. Long-term trials have proved that prevailing reservations about the use of copper wire in contact with soil are quite unfounded. The clearly superior conductivity of copper (some 10 times better) has led to sensationally good location results using myriametric waves, even over extremely short and long measuring distances.
Excellent results are archieved with KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape No. 6 Cu even under difficult conditions such as poor wave accessibility, line direction unfavourable for locating purposes, locating tape much deeper than 2 feet below the surface, unfavourable ground conditions, short lines of less than 30 feet as well as adjacent metal cables or pipes. The tape should be laid immediately above the medium to be labelled in order to ensure accurate depth measurements. The attached wires are sinusoidal in order to prevent defects caused by tension during installation, refilling of the hole or in the event of subsidence. The product enhances the efficiency not only of the myriametric wave, but also the galvanic and inductive locating methods.
Like all KEKOPLAST products, the Detectable Tape No. 6 is produced of Polyethylene and therefore environmantally neutral.

Reliable locating of non-metallic cables and pipes can cause problems. Often ground plans for the connection of public mains to buildings are not available. Furthermore, references to locations can have been changed, letting cables and pipes simply “disappear”. In addition, excavation work can easily damage non detected underground cable lines.
By using KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape those problems will not occur. Utility mains can be exactly located with a minimal effort and a standard fault location equipement. KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape provides immediate and accurate identification of type and ownership of the cable or pipe.
KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape is a 0,15 mm thick Polyethylene tape incorporating two sinusoidal shaped, non-corrosive stainless steel wires with a diameter of 0,5 mm. The tape is grounded by continous slits in the laminated foil.
The design of the tape assures precise locating at all times, whether an inductive or conductive (galvanic) method is applied. KEKOPLAST Detectable Tape No. 6 is resistant to heat, cold and humidity, even in aggressive grounds.
Its application is just as easy as the use of the specially developed connecting technique using crimp connectors with the original KEKOPLAST Crimping Tool.
Like all KEKOPLAST products, the Detectable Tape No. 6 is produced of Polyethylene and therefore environmantally neutral.
No. 4 Detectable Tape with steel band

Not infrequently prepares the reliable detection is not mended metal pipes and tubes problems. Particularly in the House to the public sector pipeline networks also often lack accurate descriptions situation. Also reference points in the situation may change plans and leave lines simply “disappear”. Moreover, it repeatedly during earthworks damage is not recognized management systems.
With the use of belt No. 4 Detectable Tape with steel band are excluded from such situations. The tape can be done with conventional positioning tracking devices, either through galvanic or inductive couple a locator transmitter.
The KEKOPLAST No. 4 Detectable Tape with steel band enables the instant and accurate identification of the cable type and owner. The KEKOPLAST No. 4 Detectable Tape with steel band consists of a 0.15 mm PE strong alliance with an inflamed on the bottom, 10 mm wide, 0.1 mm thick, corrosion-free stainless steel band. The perfect earthing is guaranteed through continuous earth contact of the stainless steel band.
The construction of the tape represents an accurate positioning all times. KEKOPLAST No. 4 Detectable Tape with steel band is weathering firmly against heat, cold and moisture, even in aggressive atmosphere (soil). Its application is as simple as the specially developed joining with the original KEKOPLAST Crimping tool.
Like all KEKOPLAST products is also positioning the tape made of polyethylene manufactured and behaves therefore absolutely environmentally neutral.
